It's surly's birthday next week. In celebration he's giving ME a present, by coming up to visit for a week.
We've planned a few things, most notably spending the Saturday daytime at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. I'm still trying to think of a suitable birthday gift for mr. surliness. *ponder*
I've booked a room at the haunted Hotel Fort Garry, a grand old railroad luxury hotel from the turn of 19th century. Surly had booked us a room there in February for my birthday, but was unable to get the haunted room. I got the haunted room this time.
I've read all sorts of accounts of single guests in the room, feeling something getting into bed with them and moving around... accounts of seeing cloaked figures standing at the foot of the bed. There were some likely more spurious tales of a hanging happening in the room, purportedly a woman who hung herself after she found out her husband had been killed in a car accident. One account I read said she'd been seen crying in a corner of the room at one point.
It sounds all cool to me now, but I guarantee if it's me lying awake by myself while surly's sleeping, and I see anything like that, I'm gonna be petrified.
