Thank you for the polite inquiries into whether I am still breathing. Yes, I am.

Life's rather a jumble of stuff right now, a mental, physical and emotional marathon if you will. I can see the finish line though. I hope someone's got a slice of orange, a glass of gatorade or, possibly, a puffin for me.

I promise you, dear, um, blog and dearer...

I assume you're still alive, because I imagine surlyclown would have let us know if you died or anything awful like that. So I just stopped by to say, Hi. I hear news of travel soon. biggrin

... actually, I read it a while back, but I respond to things slowly sometimes.
trocc:
has it warmed up up there yet? wink

Yesterday I finished reading My Papa.

Well to be more specific I finished reading the final volume of Proust's In Search of Lost Time, a 5000 page odyssey which surlyclown called My Papa because he said it was full of Proust, lying ailing on a divan effete, waffling on about his papa. He was teasing me about the Proust scholar in Little Miss...

I enjoy reading memoirs myself. In fact over the last decade or so I've found myself reading less, and less fiction in favor of that, biographies, and other non-fiction.

do you say it like "pah-pa" or pa-pah"?

Today I gave blood at a drive across the street from work.

The whole screening process led me to believe that I'm having a whole lot less fun than many: I answered no to almost every question. The questions I answered 'yes' to were mundane. Of course, Are you HIV positive? Or do you have Hepatitis? are questions I'm glad to have given a negative...

Giving blood is an interesting prospect. I had to give blood to have on hand for a surgical procedure I had done in my early twenties when I was living in California. It was no big deal, kind of cool actually, so I thought I'd go back and donate some more for the Blood Bank to use. They turned me away because I had tattoos. (this was in 1990). Apparently it was okay to use my own blood on ME but it wasn't up to standards for going into the "bank". I gave up on donating blood until just a couple years ago. I now live in Oregon and they had no problem accepting me as a donor and using my blood. Weird....... surreal

I've often wondered who gets the blood I donate. It's a very intimate thing, don't you think?

A dear friend and future family member sent me a Maneki Neko. I've been wanting one for a long time and I absolutely adore it. The paper that came with it called it a Lucky Cat, and described the significance. Apparently a left paw raised and beckoning (japanese style) is for luck in business. The right paw raised is for prosperity, and so on....

Thanks for the Comment on my verse. You know, that pic of you last time was the gazelle's knees. Cute as hell, and Valhalllla.

I had a "romance" version of the good luck cats, the pink one. It -did not- work, so... score -1 for the Chinese cat spirits....

HOLY FUCK. mad I think I can see why SG has been slowing down like crazy tonight. This is incredibly annoying. I finally had all the links to my friends pages set up in the dumb "about me" section and now they've gone and fucked with it again.

Like we really need Sex and Top Ten tabs. And do I really want everyone reading my god...
