Fractured Thoughts
Well instead of bitching and moaning about valentines and being alone and all that other crap that nobody probably wants to hear about , I have gone through my online journal and found some random thoughts of mine . Some of it might be interesting , some of it might be a load of rubbish but for those who have just met me I think it gives quite a good example of the way I think:
* It bothers me , some peoples obsession with irrelevant trivia , it just seems to me that people are completely missing the bigger picture . So many hours wasted over "oh she said this to me " .. and "he did so and so" , so many hours wasted on getting yourself worked up over silly things , so many hours wasted on droning on about how many ring tones you've got on your mobile and on what posh spice has been wearing to sainsburys . There was a quote from the film Ferris Buellers Day Off , I don't know if I have it completely right but it goessomething like this : " Life goes pretty quick and if you don't slow down and take a look once in a while it could pass you by" . The world is such an amazing place and there is so much I haven't seen or experienced , you only get so long here and I really don't want to waste my time with trivia . I want to meet new people , experience different cultures , explore the world , maybe do something that people will remember me for , have something more to concern myself with than gossip.
But yes I am aware of the total hypocrisy of writing this , letting it bother me enough to write about it . Maybe its too late for me , I sure hope not , but maybe it is .. or maybe this is just the nature of humanity . This is mankind ,humans are weak , we aspire to do so much with our time here but the majority of us don't . Im already finding myself sliding my chair over to have a listen whenever there is a new piece of office gossip.
* Does anyone else find it interesting how there is nothing that everybody finds
beauty in ? or is it just me . There probably isn't anything that every living
thing would define as beautiful . I was sat on my window sill last night ,
watching the rain beating down on the road , soaking in the tranquillity of it
all , feeling the breeze on my face . To me working here amongst the noise and
traffic of London every day that was beautiful , but to somebody sleeping rough, wandering the streets lonely .. its probably quite the opposite .
To use a strange example , a guy walking across a field casts his eye over a particular tree , he smiles .. its beautiful to him , its where he shared that special first kiss with his now wife . Half hour later another guy passes by the
same tree , he shudders .. its anything but beautiful to him .. for this is the
place where he was brutally beaten a few months previously.
The number of examples you could use are limitless , but that whole concept of
something meaning something to somebody but meaning something completely different to somebody else is really quite fascinating to me.
* As I leave at the same time everyday and get the same train everyday I see
the same people everyday on my walk to the station and on my train . From
leaving my house to getting to work here are some of the people that I see :
*the horrid little troll man in the coat cycling up the hill * goatee man with
his occasional female companion * the old black cigarette smoking man who walks along with his mouth open * the kid who sings on his walk down the road * dopey looking school boy * mr wobbles * big ginger guy with the beard * Chinese phoebe from friends and her dopey looking boyfriend * architecture man * bible reading man who looks like E from The Eels * the guy who looks like Dr Green from ER *gangster looking man whose probably called Tony * the witches of Malden manor *Oscar lamb's sister * the woman who looks like a badger*.
That I believe is all of them , you actually worry if one of them isn't there
for any reason . I wonder what any of them would call me if they were writing
that list ?
* Some things I remember from my childhood - when you used to put crisp bags in the oven and they would shrink up and you could make a key ring out of them ,peoples brief obsession with yo-yo's with either coke or sprite or some such fizzy drink on the side .. I had a sprite one and still to this day can't yo-yo
properly , micromachines , sliding down the slope at primary school sitting on
my lunch box .. and moggins (used to be a friend) shortly afterwards falling down said slope and acting like he meant to do it.
Well I actually have a quite sizable journal entry without doing much work
. It was interesting for me to re-read things I have thought over the last few months , and who knows maybe someone else will enjoy reading it
