Solar flares remind me of the Black Sabbath tune "Electric Funeral". This time of night during the work week, it's the Rockabye Baby lullabye version, though.
Been a lot of crazy weather, work, and good times since I've been online much. From six inches of snow, to a week of upper 30's/mid 40's, to a light dusting, back into the 40's...I hope February kicks our asses to make up for such a wussy January.
While the snow lasted, my daughter and I hit Jersey Hill (the local sledding hill) a couple of times, including a most excellent session with Chefdaddy and his wee ones.
There's supposed to be snowy owls around this Winter, way down here in central IL, because of a boom in the lemming population leading to greater numbers of said owls than usual up North. Apparently, they have up to a 5' wingspan and are daytime hunters. Spotting some seems a worthy quest for this Season...hmmmmmm...They're supposed to descend upon Central IL in waves that cast a "who-who"-ing shadow over the barren fields, like some Legend of the Guardians meets Flight of Dragons...
That's how I'm imagining it, anyway.
I've been keeping a daily log on Facebook regarding this quest, which means I post the following every day: Snowy Owl Sighting log 10 [tomorrow will be 11]:
I did not see any snowy owls today. Maybe tomorrow.
Tomorrow's my Kharma's sixth birthday, and we started celebrating tonight. I like to do my gifts with the girlfriend over before she gets swept up in her big day, culminating in a family party at me Mum's. The festivities continue on Sunday with several of my friends with daughters around her age coming over for a play date. Should be tons of fun, for sure!
