Ah, another wild week has come and gone in my wee corner of Central IL.
I watched that The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu movie one night, and, well, didn't dig it. It wasn't really BAD, but it definitely wasn't good, either. My three thoughts were:
#1: I probably should have bought some beer today (or something stronger).
#2: This is less "Evil Dead meets Hangover" (as it was billed) and more "Fanboys meets Monster Squad", even though I've never seen Fanboys, and Monster Squad was actually cool when I was ten years old.
#3: Yeahhhhhhhh...Lovecraft would roll in his grave, if he was dead (he's not, by the way).
I DID laugh once, though, when a dude fell out of a window. *shrugs shoulders*
I want my two hours back. At least I just rented it.
Saturday night was a blast; my old friend Michelle had a backyard shin-dig and Chefdaddy and his family showed up. The kiddies played, s'mores were made, and Chef treated us to some good old-timey tunes on the guitar. Oh! And glow sticks!!! Wheeee! I TOTALLY have a crush on Michelle now, too. Over some of that legal smoking crap (they're actually allowed to call it Kush? Pshaw...) and a handful of beers, the tales she was telling would make a sailor blush and liven up several threads in the Groups on here...plus, she is smoking hot. I'm glad it was dark out by then, and the kids were inside watching a flick. *rolls eyes and smiles*

The Summer's heat has returned in full force (well, upper 80's and HUMID, but that's enough for this Autumn/Winter loving guy), and I have been sweating a lot. Work has been pretty intense and annoying; we're getting down to the nitty-gritty trimming out the first big ol' apartment building, and trying to keep pace with the plumbers and HVAC guys on roughing in the second. Of course, they each have a half dozen guys on site, as compared to me (and a trainee or two) doing all the wiring. So far, so good...at least the permanent power is on now (I wonder if the Ameren utility guys noticed me flinch when I turned on the main 1600 amp breaker?), and I have the fire system wired (my first).

Today was the Sugar Creek Arts Festival in downtown Normal, and my daughter and I walked to it on the (mostly) wooded bike trail that cuts through town where defunct railroad tracks used to be (when I was a kid). It was HOT, and after the 45 minute walk, we didn't stay all that long. At least we left our muffler-less car at Michelle's (which is just off of downtown Normal) last night and didn't have to walk home. I love it when a plan comes together (and thanks, Chef, for the ride home last night).

Now I am waiting patiently for the haboob of sleep to sandblast my consciousness. Haboob. Such a paradoxical word; it sounds so solid, smooth, warm, and happy, but it actually means an intense sand or dust storm (which, I imagine, is a pretty particulately abrasive thing). This isn't helping me sleep, which means I'll stay up for a while longer, tackling some laundry, listening to tunes, and checking out all the super hot pics on here. It has been a GREAT week for new sets, for SURE, and some of the threads in Groups have piqued my interest as well.
It seems to be cooling down on the porch, and I'm thinking it's tequila midnight time...that is a tequila sunrise when it is too dark to see the grenadine.
Cheers, *clink*
