Last night we broke our usual routine by hanging out with the lovely brds8myface and the her wonderful roommateGeishaEmily at their house. After a good meal we soaked in the hot tub for a little while, which tunred into almost two hours. I had really forgotten how spoiled we were having one at our apartments last summer. Too bad it was gone this year
Mmmmmm....we're most definitely going to get one of our own when we can. Excellent stress therapy!
I need a lot of stress therapy these days; work has really been getting to me. But I did pick up my application materials for graduate school this week. I'll have to wait until next fall to actually start, but it was such a relief to go through the papers and think, "This won't be so hard".
I've been very lazy about some things recently, and that kind of bothers me. Tired all the time, I need to break this cycle. Deep down inside, I know I'll feel better if I just get up, get out, and do. Maybe the change in seasons will be good. I've been ready for fall for a few weeks.
I did find some excellent reading yesterday though. The library FINALLY had a copy of "Bad News", which is about the decline in American news media. Indeed this has been a tragedy. I've been on about that subject a lot; it's why I decided not to become a journalist. To that end, I also watched "Outfoxed" (about Rupert Murdoch and Fox News. Boy, is Bill O'Reilly a villain!) and "Weapons of Mass Deception", a real eye opener about news distortion up to and during the Iraq war. I also picked up a book about how the religious right abused Terri Schaivo's situation. It is kind of stating the obvious, but I am curious to get more detail on it and see which strings they pulled to get the political aspect in.
