Once again, in University of AL's student paper, The Crimson White. I'm seriously considering a career in editorial writing, since I seem to be good at it.
Let's use our manners

Recently, I canceled my home Internet to save money, causing me to take advantage of the many computer labs on campus. I thought, "My tuition pays for it; why not use it?"
After frequenting three labs - Ferguson, Morgan Hall and Gordon Palmer - and after just two weeks, I am appalled by the behavior of my fellow students. What happened to manners? My message to students is to turn their phones to vibrate, and take the calls in the hallway.
It's OK to walk 10 steps outside the room. Do not hold loud conversations with each other, but whisper. Labs should hold the same atmosphere as a library, but even there people seem to lack all class and consideration. I'm not sure of the problem's origin - maybe mothers don't do their jobs anymore, or perhaps people just don't have any common sense - but this is ridiculous.
At some point, most of us will hold jobs outside of pizza delivery, waiting tables and bartending. Rude behavior won't be tolerated out there, so why exert it here? We are adults here, students and staff, and it is time to behave as such.
