Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the eponymous Black Sabbath album.
It single handedly altered the face (and sound) of music forever. The genre defining riffs and leads by Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbournes bleak wails, Bill Wards SWINGING percussion and Geezer Butler providing the best, heaviest sounding bass since Jack Bruce all coalesced to form a sound that hadnt been heard before.
And after 42 years, and countless imitators, its not been done quite as well.
The first time i consciously listened to Black Sabbath, I was going through my uncle's records, and found "We Sold Our Souls For Rock N' Roll", and I was alone in the house during a storm, and put on the first side of the first record. It was getting dark, and the family was out, and the rumbling of the thunder, the tolling bell, the real life lightning flashes... then the riff! No musical experience has affected me quite the same way.
I was 11 years old.

I love Sydney. I like to stand in the crowds and listen to various languages being spoken. I spent some time in Tazzy and would love to get back sometime.
