How to make it in the modeling industry: don't be male.
Well, i was trying to set up another shoot with Mike Way, but it didn't work out. Why, you may ask? Apparently i'm useless to him if i don't have a girl with me for him to shoot as well.
The last two times, i went with Kittentaboo, and things went ok. The pictures i posted recently were shot by him and i think we'll all agree that tey came out really nicely. The problem was that he's not used to shooting with men, so i would often get put to the side while he came up with idea after idea for her. Both times, she ended up with more shots than i did; the first time, almost double. Dtermined to not let htat be the case again, i came up with ideas for him, in the hopes that it might even out. Not so. He stil constantly came up with more and more ideas for her while i just sat around while the good light went away. Got more, but only because i had ideas of my own, not because he actually thought of much.
This time i was determined to make the most of my time with him, and had come up with a long list of things to shoot. I was planning to go out there with my friend Beth, who is quite beautiful, and would have been a great subject for him. The problem arose when she said that she wouldn't model nude for him. For some reason, which i'll justify by saying that his primary art form is female nude photography (he *has* gotten into galleries, and been showcased on OMP many times), he won't do a TFP shoot unless the model poses nude for him. Beth didn't want to do that, but i have no problem with it and this last time they looked pretty good from what i saw, so she said that she'd still drive me out to shoot with him (which is mighty big of her considering that it's two hours away) even if he didn't want to shoot with her. So i thought everything would be ok.
But then, upon relaying this information to him, he emails me and says: "I think the only way I can justify my time is if Beth is willing to do implied (hands over bare breasts) and thong shots (nude shot from the back with only a thong). I can make those things work for me."
First off, i know that Beth will not be down for that. But even if she was, it sends a very negative message when combined with everything else: "You're not good enough on your own. I need to shoot pictures of a woman. You're only a man, so you're not worth my time."
Does this sound fair to you?
[August 25 addition]: So he emails me me back and says "There's always the chance that we can work something out in the future." Oh really? Maybe, but not unless he decides that i'm worth his time, woman or no. I'm not heading out there only to get the same results again.
