I finally purchased a new digital camera. My first digital camera was purchased back in 2004 and it was a 5.0MP Sony DSC-T1. You may remember it from that TV commercial in which some girls took a picture of Steven Tyler and the camera had a huge screen. That camera put me back by $550 and it wasn't bad but the camera was so compact that the lens detects every bit of motion (it comes out as blur) and the flash can only reach about 5 feet. After seeing my camera's results with taking the Linda pictures (ie beer bong) and taking pictures at the acoustic Lacuna Coil performance, I decided it was time for a upgrade. So I purchased a new Sony DSC-H5 (seen below). It is a 7.2MP camera with steady shot (something I needed), a much bigger lens for better motion capture, 12X optical zoom (my old one only had 3X), and a crapload of different photo modes. All in all, it takes much better pictures than my older camera. The thing that pisses me off the most is that this camera only set me back by $350. Best Buy had other compact cameras with the same resolution for less money but the big lens will really help out with zooming and with motion blur. It is strange how technology moves though. 5.0MP was pretty much the max when I purchased my older camera. I would say that the average camera resolution at Best Buy was 6.0MP with 1/4 of the cameras in the 7.0 and above. I even saw a 12MP SLR camera with a price tag of $1300. At least I will be able to take better pictures now. I won't have to worry about low light conditions, having blur problems, or worry about taking night pictures.
