The other day I went out to dinner with two friends of mine, two women, and we had a strange serving later. She wasn't particularly attentive. At one point the waitress came over and gave us our desserts and I said "thank you", which is pretty normal. She looks at me and says, "did you say 'spank you'?" I grinned and said, "No, I'd never say something that dirty." I paused. That seemed harsh and a little untrue, so I clarified by saying, "At least not to a stranger." One of the girls with me chimes in, "He'd say it to us though."
That was just such a funny situation for me. Maybe it was funnier or cooler because I'd had a margarita and an atavan, but I sure found it entertaining.
Later, driving home, I thought I should have said something like, "No, but I wonder what YOU have on your mind..." Or perhaps something like, "No, but if you would have liked me to, I will."
