The de facto pardoning of Lewis 'Scooter' Libby has been met with disgust by the American public. The commuting of Libby's sentence by the very people who profited from the crimes which were committed is proof positive that the Elite who rule this nation have thrown off the last vestiges, and abandoned the guise of being democratic leaders. Those now entrusted with leading world in the name of Democratic no longer attempt to hide their misdeeds, as in the past. Rather, they flaunt their corruption without reserve.

Even the most casual observer of the affairs of Capitol Hill can recognize that this crosses a line. The line is that which separates Justice and Politics, The Rule of Law and the Rule of Party; it is the line which lies between the thinly veiled corruption of the past seven years, and the shameless perversions of power and unembarrassed nepotism of today. Indeed, all of these most profoundly important distinctions were violated by the commuting of Libby's sentence--but the implications run much deeper than this, and have consequences far more profound. In truth, the commuting of the sentence was will be remembered as a moment in history; either as a moment when the corrupt prosper, and show to the future corrupt that they CAN get away with it, or as a moment when the American people stand, at last, and demand that justice be returned to their government.

I know that this event has moved many of you. Moved you to anger, to disenchantment, and perhaps to tears. I ask of you this: If the crimes of those who represent you have moved you at all, let them move you to action.

www.moveon.org is a site dedicated to checking the government's misdeeds. They are currently conducting a letter writing campaign to congress to demand that Justice prevail rather than the Political Machine of the Bush administration. This is not nearly enough. This trespass is too extreme for letter writing to suffice, the offense too blatant. This is the point in history where the public must make a spectacle. We have to raise our voices and we have to scream, and insist with every fiber of our beings that we will not allow this depravity to continue. We have to prove that we are vigilant, and fight for our country tooth and claw.

I ask all of you to write to moveon.org, requesting that a march on the Capitol be organized. In the name of holding those who would silence us, manipulate us, intimidate us, and lie to us accountable for their crimes, we must take to the streets. We have got let it be known that suffering distortion of justice for even a second longer is intolerable.

Below is a form letter which you are free to modify as you choose. If you are moved, as I am, please send this in. Even if you can't attend the march, the rest of us will protest in your name. Paste the letter into moveon's suggestion box at http://tinyurl.com/ys528s.

"Dear Moveon,
The commuting of the sentence of Lewis Libby was a betrayal of due process, the American public, and all those who believe in a government for the people. While I support your letter writing campaign, corruption of this magnitude requires a more tangible response. In the name of land, liberty, and the ideals of Democracy, I suggest that the response be taken to the streets of Washington, and to the doors of congress. Using your organization, I request that you undertake organization of a march on the capitol to demonstrate that the people are vigilant and outraged by what they see; and that we demand justice even_especially_ when the crimes are committed by those in power.

Sincerely,
***Your name** "

We have to do something.
Alone, as individuals, we are too small, too easily ignored. Let us, then, be the spark which ignites the kindling beneath this powder keg. Let us be the force which drives greater forces to action. Let the flames grow hot and sweep across this land as a cleansing fire, until the lies and depict which bedevil us are ash and smoke, and the government is ours once again.

To all of you reading this, friends, please pass on this call to arms in whatever form you like. Internet action feels flaccid, I know. But if we have got to try something to make action come of this.

I do not know why america does not care about all the crimes being committed from the White House. It makes my head spin and hurt, a lot.
