Hehehehehe.
I'm rolling pretty again.
I got my camper shell today. Looks pretty good. Along with it came a small bottle of touch up paint that is color matched to my truck, so I can fix those little scraps I've been bitching about.
While I was in that area I went and got a used tire for the blow out I had two months ago. The tire was $25, and they charged me thirty total to change both tires (I had them take the tire off my full size spare rim, which was a brand new tire, and put it on my regular rim, and the used tire onto the spare rim). The used tire actually had more tread then any of my other tires (except the spare tire because it had only a couple thousand miles on it). Would have got a brand-new tire, but as soon as I get to Seattle I need to get a set of wet weather tires anyways, so why waste the extra thirty bucks?
So now all I need to do is clean out the inside of my truck, and I'm rolling damn pretty. Got all four of my rims polished, my truck waxed (but I'm going to do it again proper and not quick), a full-size spare tucked away under my bed, and even put in a self-made emergency road side kit (ropes, fixaflat, flashlights, road flares, tarp, even a wrench/socket kit).
Then when I get my tow package (which is going to be a big one, one that will handle more weight then my little engine can actually tow), all I'll have left to get is better speakers and an alarm and my truck will be good to go. Oh, and if I decide to keep the truck I'm getting dual exhaust to open up that low end torque for when I tow shit (I might be getting a decent sized flat bed trailer). Oh, and an MSD Ignition just for shits and giggles.
I do need to take my truck into the shop though to have them look at that weird noise I've got eminating from the front left wheel well. Don't know what it is, but it bugs me. Also want to see if they can tighten up the steering (on a full turn it hops) and fix up the brakes (they're starting to squeek just a tiny bit). Also, if they are cool and are willing to do it, I want them to redo the shocks under warranty, but put in bigger/stiffer ones. Probably I'm pushing my luck with that one.
Man, I've been looking into the aftermarket for the 02+ Chevy Cavaliers with with Ecotec 2.2L engines. Damn! They got some killer shit on the market for those engines. And the engines themselves are built tremendously tough. They've got race teams pushing over 1000hp on a stock block, and they've got companies running cars with 8+psi turbochargers on pump gas and stock internals. In fact, the factory crank is rated for up to 500hp (on a 130hp stock engine). Plus the cars are dirt cheap and handle great. I always liked the look of the Cavaliers, and wouldn't mind having one now that I know how well they can perform with relatively minimal modifications (shit, the stock engines will take a 150hp shot of nitrous oxide).
