Long time no update.
So I got that humidor all set up and even went out and purchased a bunch of damn fine cigars. Give them another week or so and they'll be ready.
I need to start working out. Soon as I get up to Kent I'm getting a gym membership somewhere that's open 24 hours so I can lose some weight and do a lot of cardio work. Once I'm free of this business, I'll have something resembling a normal schedule, so I'll be able to fit in gym time again...finally...
I got like 24 days before I'm out of here. I'm going to miss Texas so much it already hurts. I'm gorging too - eating all that food I will not get again. The great barbecue, the insanely good Mexican food, even the good Tex-Mex.
I've decided to give up drinking indefinitely. I have one bottle of my absolute favorite vintage (Turning Leaf Syrah 2001) which I will save until I get up to Kent, probably even stick it in my brother's cellar for a while, then drink it and be done with alcohol for a very long time. This probably won't last, but it's a good idea. Either way, I'm saving that bottle for a damn special occasion. It may be a $9.00 bottle of wine, but they don't make it anymore, and I like it more then bottles I've paid three or four times as much for. That's what sucks about being a wine drinker - you find something you absolutely love, and unless it costs $20 a bottle or more, within a year it's impossible to find again.
Oh, and I had a Robusto Candela cigar last night from my favorite shop...fucking perfect. The best damn cigar I've ever had in my entire life! No wonder Candela's were so popular 30 and 40 years ago - that fucking cigar was magnificant! When I opened the wrapper and cut it and was checking it out, the smell almost made me put it back in the humidor to pawn off on someone else, but the weird color (very green) was enough to entice me to light it and I couldn't be happier that I did! It even smelled nice. Most cigars make my apartment smell like shite, but this one had a wonderful smell (by comparison - meaning it wasn't offensive).
