Jeebus, was I tired last night.
My interest in the VW MR2 is waning a little. Not of loss of interest or anything, but price wise. For what it would cost to do that, I could build a 500 cubic inch Chevy C-10. Considering that I could get the truck for about a grand, and a donor car for the 500ci for about a grand, and then a transmission for about $1500, that's about as much as the VW MR2 would cost. The incidental costs would be the same as well, if not a little cheaper since parts for the Chevy truck and Caddy engine are cheaper then parts for an MR2, and easier to find then a VW.
Besides, the truck would be so easy. I'd have to pull the engine out of the donor car, bolt it into the truck, attach the transmission, and wire the engine and plumb the lines and it's good to go. That's a weekend right there.
Also, I've always wanted a big block C-10 truck. And since it'd cost as much, and probably less, then an MR2 VW, why not just do that?
Ah, I dunno. We'll see. There is definitely the appeal of a turbocharged MR2 engine in a VW Beetle blasting through the mountains of the Northwest. Course, there is also the appeal of a 12 second (or much lower probably) daily driven sexy looking street truck.

Is it weird that I've never seen an IKEA catalog, and didn't even know there were IKEA stores until a couple months ago (I've never seen one, but I have heard of them)? Shit, until two years ago I'd never even heard of IKEA.
