I've been following quite a few mp3 blogs at work. It's nice; a whole day of entirely new music 2-3 days/week.I've even bought a handful of CDs from artists I wouldn't have heard of if not for the mp3 blogs. (The Db's, The Tiny, Edie Sedgwick)
To spread the love, I made a mix cd of entirely artists I hadn't heard of before April, and heard about through an mp3 blog. The cover and tracklist is here. It's mostly new songs by relatively new artists, but a few old ones I had never heard of slipped in there. As is the case with most of my mix cds, it's a fairly eclectic mix, though looking at it now, more artists than you might expect are hip and Swedish.
A few of you have already got copies. If you didn't and want one, let me know, and I'll try to remember to burn a copy for you and bring it to wherever the next place I see you will be. You'll have to be in charge of printing the cover, though, I still don't have a printer and boundcreature puts up a fuss every time I ask him to print something.
Highlights include:
Dressy Bessy who are playing at TTs the weekend of the camping trip. If you're not going camping, you'd be wise to see Dressy Bessy.
The Gaskets a soon to be released track which features the brilliant lyric "I wear the same thing all the time, so that you'lll remember who I am"
V-Effect whose (sole?) album,1984's Stop Those Songs have made a number of Post-Punk/No Wave recommended reading lists, but which has never made it to CD.
and
The Affiar an NYC band that's got only a split 7" to their name so far, but whose similarity to Blondie is unmistakable and utterly beautiful.

let me know
no wonder why its perminantly lodged in my discman and i've made NO effort to pry it out.
only problem is, my snotty little printer won't print me up a copy of the set list, which is a shame, because it looks very nicely designed, and makes my usual sharpie-ed set lists look hopelessly ghetto. i know how eager you are to take time out of your busy life to do my bidding... so maybe... if its not to much of a hassle would you send me the artists and titles in a regular old email... that way i can write my gushing and hopelessly fannish rock-review without resorting to: "track one was outstanding...' cause that would just feel silly.
