This Week I Have Been Mostly Listening To: Aereogramme!
They rock, it proves the power of the beard and what four beardy blokes can do with guitars and some real passion. I love post-rock and all things of that ilke and these guys are just amazing. They kinda remind me of explosions in the sky, but going in a slightly different, darker direction. If you've never heard any post-rock then you probably have already and have not realised it. Mogwai are a great example, as are Godspeed you black emperor (considered by many to be the gods of the genre), Explosions in the sky, A silver mount zion (side project of Godspeed). I could go on and on, but simply said you should all dip in and have a listen, there is some fan-fuckin'-tastic stuff to be heard.
Hmm well I kind of organised going to the hay-on-wye festival with a friend. Should be great, but we have a terribly long history of arranging things and then our best laid plans always seem to fall apart, so I'm not going to hold my breath. I'd love to go to the wye book festival, i've always wanted to go, but always had some reason I couldn't. Now I'm a no-job loser student I have no reason to not go so here's hoping kid.
What about you all, what exciting summer plans do you have, any festivals, any gigs, or something completely different?
**update**
just watched Star Wars, most excellent. It's definately one of the best films I've seen this year, and almost as good as the old films. Vaders transformation is chilling, watching the mask come down and him take his first breath. One of the things that really spoke to me is the timeless quality of the story, I've seen and read the same tale a million other places, and it still truly catches me. Wonderful!
