Today I had off of work and decided to do P.A.W.S. (pairing animals with soldiers) I went to the SPCA and got paired up with Isis, a 3 yr old pitbull that's been rotting at the SPCA kennel. We went to Petsmart first and I got her a toy, a bone, a can of food, and some doggy biscuits. Then we went to Newport News Park and ran around for hours until we both were exhausted. Then I took her back to my room in the barracks and we took a nap watching Tank girl, she even curled up next to me. Then the dreaded hour came and I had to return her. Seriously, I fell in love with this dog. She's perfect. She loves people, she's calm indoors but loves to play outside, she's healthy, doesn't bark. I wish I could keep her. You're not allowed to have pets in the barracks and even if I could have her, I'm almost guaranteed to deploy again soon, who would take care of her? I guess that's why they have that program. Hurts though. MyMom says its good, good for the dog and good for me. Well, anyhow if you know anyone looking for a dog or cat suggest the SPCA, they have a lot of animals that need a home.

Otherwise, same reasons, tho' I'm in an apartment not the billets. I'm not home enough to really care for a pet, and can't stomach the idea of buying something to keep my silly ass company, and then leaving it alone most of the time. Selfish, that.
I definitely think it was good for you, so coolness.
