I have just figured out what my next tattoos shall be!
Last week, I decided that not hating my mother has recently become missing my mother and realizing that I love my mother. There are several things that have happened to remind me of her, in pleasant ways, and so I decided this week that I would get a tattoo to represent her. I will get a purple azalea, my mother's favorite flower, tattooed on my left upper arm. I haven't decided if I want her initials, birth or death years, etc in or around the tattoo, or if I just want the flower. I figure I'll hash that out with the artist. The flower will look something like this, I think:
I figured out my graduation tattoo, today, too. I was surfing through my RSS feeds, and ran across this post in the Skepchick.org blog. That led me to this site on which I found these earrings:
It is Acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter involved with learning and memory. The tattoo will be the shape of the earrings, except I want the oxygen red and the nitrogen blue, the traditional colors of those elements in molecular models. I'm thinking of getting it on the back of my neck, but I haven't decided that, yet.
The azalea I want to get as soon as possible, and I'm not sure if I want to get the molecule at the same time, or if I will wait until graduation. Either way, I'm glad I've figured it out - now I just need to call up Dogstar Tattoo to see when I can come in to get them done.
