Okay, so... when I'm feeling down, my favorite thing to do is buy stuff. Which is a bad thing, really, unless I haven't done it in a while and I buy something I've actually been wanting for quite some time. And I have money, that is kind of important.
And while I generally don't want to splurge all this new money I have (half of it is invested, already), I did make a rather large purchase this evening on something I've been wanting for a long time: a decent camera.
Except that I used to think "decent camera" was any digital camera with an optical zoom that didn't suck as bad as my crappy Sony Cybershot from 2003. I've taken some really great pictures with it, don't get me wrong, but I've never, say, had the urge to name it or anything.
Well, meet Juneau:
She is my brand-new Olympus Evolt E-500 Digital SLR. My second digital camera, and my first digital SLR. She was $599 and came with two lenses (Zuiko Digital 14-45mm and Zuiko Digital 40-150mm). I, of course, spent way more than that when you factor in taxes, a camera bag, damage protection, etc... but, according to my own pictures and some internet reviews, it's a great camera. I am very happy with this purchase.

Now, I still have very little clue what I'm doing with this thing, except taking way awesomer pictures than ever before. Thus, I will probably need advice - feel free to send some my way!
