It seems customary to thank the mavens @missy, @rambo, and @lyxzen for said assignment so thank you ladies. Apologies if I thanked the wrong people.
My nickname is actually a homophone for a racial slur and I'm always careful in how I spell it. My real name is Padraic which is Irish Gaelic for Patrick. Patrick is what my parents called me as a baby. My older sister was two when I was born and said, Packtricked which she shortened to Pack. And that morphed into Packy. I have a slew of Pack related nicknames including Pachyderm, a type of elephant and Pakistan. Which leads me to the the racial slur part. If you take off the c and replace the y with an i it becomes a nasty term for the people of Pakistan. When I was in college two of my friends were talking about me when a professor from there overheard them. "You call your friend WHAT?!" She demanded to know. "No, it's okay. He's white." And then they proceeded to tell her about my sister. She immediately understood. So that's the story of my nickname and I guess a funny story.
