I saw the most awesome thing recently.
I was driving down a fairly busy road in the suburbs sometime the week before Christmas (El Camino Real in Palo Alto if anyone has ever been stuck there.
There was this homeless man standing in the middle of the road, with immaculate posture, standing in a position that puts "military bearing" to shame. This man was wearing some kind of pants and jacket both reduced to the color olive drab initially came from, a combination of dirt and grass stains. But, that's kind of unexceptional, what made it so amazing was the robe/skirt thing this man was wearing. He'd hobbled something together out of plastic shaped kind of like a bedouin's robe. As he was standing, absolutely motionless, in the middle of the road, this roofing plastic robe was billowing in the wind for a full two lanes behind him, like some kind of homeless reinvention of a 1930's desert prince movie.

my eye does hurt today, and my eyelid is more swollen! Anja gave me some topical stye medicine though, so that's good. however it's only a lubricant for symptomatic relief, not to cure the infection. think i'll be okay, or should i really go to the doctor?

Heh, I hadn't read that. Sweet. I'm in Philly, I'll give you a call in a few in fact.
