SXSW this year was awesome! --

Today I saw a buncha bands at the outdoors Hideout party including Neko Case, Calexico (did a fucking totally rad version of "Alone Again Or" by Love with Nic Dunger singing), Brokeback, Boas, Kelly Hogan, Sally Timms (who is NOT A snob by the way I was wrong...) Then I also saw Iron and Wine, somebody on Drag City...

Since you missed Matador I suppose you missed out on Liz Phair (who I used to be in love with back in the day) but I heard she is actually making an Avril Lavigne move and that like half her new album was written by "The Matrix". I fucking swear to god I'm not making this up! I would have seriously enjoyed your report on that apparent train wreck. Also, I heard Dion played and was actually good!?! Anyway, have a smooth trip home (you oughtta just rock the caddy back!).
ninjatuner:
I've been listening the shit out of Neko Case lately, especially 'Blacklisted'. I can't even imagine what a Samuel Beam show would be like. I've never gone to sxsw or even nxnw. I must be some kind of jackass.

Hey ! Life is good in Austin -- the label showcase went really fucking great -- I am very happy and exceptionally tired right now.

The club was really cool, sound pretty good, people who worked there were really rad, we bought dinner for the woman running the stage as she made things go smoothly even though the day show went perilously later than it...

If I thought I could seethe I would...
But it's too much energy out the wrong end of my body, so I'll congratulate you instead --- Whooooo fuckin' HOOOOOO! Have an amazing time, take loads of pictures, and kiss Neko for me.

"Spook-ass remix". Right on!!

I saw Stars as Eyes last November with Cex. They were *so* unassuming. Really nice guys to boot. The tall one tried to rock out for a moment and it made the power supply click off. they just giggled and shrugged it off.

Yay. Have fun. So find George Zahora from Splendidezine and take his pic. Yes, I've never met my editor despite having worked for him for nine months.

hey there -- i'm having a fucking awesome time thus far!

the other guy who works on sad robot with me, steve, had also slept through his alarm so we both got waitlisted on a flight from seattle to austin no problem. however it was impossible to get onto a flight to dallas, so my uncle who's really really rad -- i mean he's like...

Sounds like you are having a blast! That sucks about Scout. I actually dig her more than Cat Power at the moment. If you meet Jonathan from Secretly Canadian, tell him Scott from Cameron Crowe's says hi!!

Sorry for the absence the last day or two had an interesting time of it, up all night with the lovely Mum cellist girl. She called me to come by her place last night cause her ex was watching her kid. And shes really, really cool methinks -- BUT shes not interested in dating anyone right now. So, seeing as how *I* am not into...

I've never heard anyone describe OUR time management skills so accurately... you're awesome. I have days like that quite often... taking off is one of my most frequent daydreams, ever since I was a wee girl... Run away! I have hardly any stuff these days. I got rid of a lot of it a few years ago, and I don't miss it at all. My only prized possessions are my jewellery bench tools & equipment, a mixed cd custom made for me, a couple of photos, my teddy bears (Big teddy and Little teddy), my ibook, and my orange tabby cat Pee Wee. Fuck everything else. What are YOUR most valuable possessions?
1- anything on entertainment tonight
2- chicken: pronounced Cheh-kahn
3- lemur
4- if I answer this one you're gonna yell at me to get a room, aren't you? CLOVESBUD!!!!!! Cuz he's my hot dang kindred spirit who makes me ecstatically happy.

So, I called her today and invited her to Califone on Tues., fingers crossed well see. 'Twas a good mtg, anyway...

The weekend started crazy but it won't end lazy. I'm stuck working in a creepily empty office where every five minutes I hear a masked serial killer sneaking up behind my chair and I whirl around with fists raised and confront nothing but air and it's killing my productivity, man.

The weekdays should be much better. Hopefully I can attend the Carissa's Weird show on Tuesday. GY!BE on Monday, pulling roadie duty for the Mooney Suzuki / Raveonettes show Friday.

But it sounds like you don't need anyone else's life to live through, you've got enough of one on your own. Good luck with the play-thing and SXSW and all those women that crowd around you, wanting a piece of the mack. wink

Iron and Wine plays end of the month, far as I know. I'd be honored if you get me into the C.W. show.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhh!!! I wish I was in New York so I could go to the big Adolf Wolfli (1864-1930) show at the folk art museum there. You know his stuff? Amazing amazing art he did it all while living in an asylum, Waldau, in Germany (same place my fave writer Robert Walser was interned for awhile too). Ive been to the museum of his work in...

freyja__:
thanks for the guest list option for last night's show.
obviously i didn't make it.
i got the 'dont want to leave the house blues' and wasn't feeling especially like venturing to a show on my own.
what a dork, i know. whatever

i really do enjoy that music.. and its sort of new to me. i dont have a lot of "band" knowledge.. i've been a dance music girl pretty much my whole life. can i get that cd in stores? like local shops like other music? or bigger ones like virgin? it is something i would definitely like to explore some more.

thanks again.
