When I was a kid my taste in music was.... eclectic, to put it mildly, and shit, to put it honestly. I was really easily impressed by gimmicks. A cartoon cat?? AND Paula Abdul??? fuck. yeah. I mean, I was only 11 or so, but still, there's no excuse for condoning mediocrity. Then I met my best friend James and he played me 3 albums: In Utero - Nirvana, Purple - Stone Temple Pilots. and Dirt - Alice in Chains. That blew my mind. Grunge had already been around for a little while, this was 1994 after all, but I was just discovering it, and it was awesome. That led me onto Pearl Jam, The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, Soundgarden, L7, Faith no more, I could go on forever. The reason I bring this up, is that I've been going through a grunge revival of sorts. I've been listening to songs I haven't heard in years, and my band mates, are PISSED. because now when we jam, it's all slow dirty chords, and screeching feedback. these guys after all, are really more post rock, shoegaze kinda fellas. I think they'll appreciate it in the long run though, girls like rockstars, there's no way around it.
When most guys had Pamela Anderson Posters for their mastebatory fantasies, I had a Jennifer Finch poster.
