OK I promise I'll be better at this. I really really promise. Quick updates for stuff in general :
Back to Muay Thai
I'm back at training now after having a year or so of somewhat sporadic attendance. I had a few months off mostly out of laziness from where I just kinda fell out of it. Then I got back into it and just as I started to get back to the kinda level I was before quitting, I went and got what my GP casually dismissed as sciatica. Between my back hurting like hell and my new tattoo I wound up having another 3 months off while I healed up.
Been back about 4 weeks now and it feels great to be back. In the past I'd tried going to the gym, and was going to the gym in conjunction with kickboxing for a while but I just started to find it tiresome so stopped. The Muay Thai is just more enjoyable, so I wound up doing that more often instead (An hour on Mondays and Thursdays for now). I'm still having some issues with fitness but that'll come with time.
In at least one of the 2 sessions in any given week I will be absolutely taken apart by somebody who's just plain better than me. In the past week I've managed to fuck up both shins, my left knee, the inside of my left thigh is completely black and my hip is currently purple too. Who knew taking a beating could be so much fun? I guess I've got some masochist in me.
Guitar
Still going to lessons regularly but I'd be lying if I said I thought I was practicing as much as I should be. I'm using lunchtimes in work to go through a book I have on music theory which is helping me a little bit, but I'm finding it hard to come back from work and commit to a decent practice routine. In a sense, I can see how I have more freedom than the people who are dead-set on a career in music. It's just a hobby, and while I'm still enjoying it and I'm sure I always will; I could do with a bit of motivation. I've been making casual enquiries about finding some people to play with or joining a band or something. I figure that'll do the trick.
Nerdery
Next few months are jam-packed with comic conventions and assorted nerdery which I'm really looking forward to aswell as other things. I've found lately that I've been setting little milestones throughout the coming months and then really looking forward to them. I think it's safe to say that if I'm counting the week to a particular event, and then the number of weeks after that until something else; that maybe I'm not fulfilled in work etc.
Later this month I'll be seeing Richard Herring in Warrington. I've seen him live a few times now and he's always awesome. Typically, the day after I booked my tickets he announced a date in Chester which although it's only a bit closer, is still a bit of a shitter that I just missed it. So that gives :
MAR 25th - Richard Herring
APR 4th - Death roots out my abacus again
APR 8th - Kapow, London
MAY 13th - Bristol
JUN 5th - Wrexham
JUN 18th - Glasgow
With all the upcoming bank holidays and long weekends I have booked off for nerdery, I've not got a full week of work from April to late May.
Yup, I think things are gonna be just fine
