So we got good news at work today, coal sets are going up. Basically that means that there is more demand for coal out East, which means more coal trains rumbling through town here, which means more work for us, which means happiness abounds. We were basically told that projections show that the increase could out us at the level of traffic we had before the layoffs here, and possibly even higher than that. The superviser was asked if tht meant call backs to the laid off, and they said it was being looked into and a possibility. Of course I don't want to get my hopes up that there will be call backs, because if there is I wouldn't have to go to the night shift, yeah I'm selfish. I would love for the traffic to pick up that much here in town for all kinds of reasons, and it would be nice in general. So basically I am kind of enjoying hearing that there is all that snow and cold out East because it really benefits us, I am sorry if this weather is affecting any of you negatively, but know that Montana coal is coming to the rescue.
That was the news that made me happy today, and it was interesting to see the ractons of the older guys that have seen times like this before, or were affected by the layoffs back in the 80s. My dad was laid off for 10 years back in he 80s, he went and did road construction until they called him back, and he reacted much like I did which made me feel better. More than likely if the traffic picks up we will get opportunities for overtime for a while before they have call backs, so at that time I will have to decide just how selfish I am.
Lord I have a stack of comics that need to be read, and I can't really do so as I type on here, hmmm, what to do, what to do?

Today our Shop Superintendent addressed this topic today. He told us that pojections show that the increase in traffic through my town is supposed to be through the year. That's excellent news for us, and in turn gives me job secuirty that a month ago I was questioning. Funny how I know this isn't my career but I still feared losing my job, even though it might have been the kick in the ass that I needed, guess I just found the idea of unemployment daunting. The cool part about coal going up for the year is that it doesn't reflect on the trains carrying merchandise,so as the economy corrects itself that should increase as well, which would be even more trains coming through town, which would probably mean call backs for sure. So other than having five more days until I get a day off, and having to go through boring safety certification today, things are looking up.
