Got talked into going out last night which was fun, there are more people out on a Friday night than on Monday's but it's still small town Montana so there isn't all that much going on. I said I got talked into it but really it was just my friend Brad calling and asking and that's about all it takes, he is quickly becoming a damned good friend. Actually funny story on that, his girlfriend last night said that she really liked hanging out with me, so that was good, then after I said that the old dudes at work are really starting to pick up on Brad and my friendship she said that we had a weird bond, she couldn't really explain it but we definitely have a bond, then she went on to say that she is actually almost jealous sometimes. So like I said, quickly becoming a damned good friend.
Before I went downtown I watched MSNBC's coverage of President Obama talking to the Republicans and having a question answer period with them. I gotta say that the President impresses me more and more as I see him talk and do his job. It was really impressive to watch the Republicans try to grill him and catch him out only to have the President use facts and actualities to answer the questions and turn everything right back around on them. He did it all without a teleprompter, notes, or hesitation, that man is damned impressive and I am glad to say I voted for him and that he most certainly was the right person for the job.
I just watched the original Clash of the Titans for the umpteenth time, but this time it was on Netflix instant whereas in my youth it was always on TBS. One thing I noticed right off the bat was that there was boobs in the movie, and even a couple ass shots from beautiful women, man I missed out by watching it on TBS back in the day. I really look forward to the remake, the trailer makes it look pretty damned cool, and come on Liam Neeson as Zeus how awesome is that?
So today is a lazy day, not hungover, but just lazy. I got a box of comics in the mail so that's nice, I always enjoy those days when I get my monthly fix. The new manager of the shop isn't near as good as the old one and I inevitably wind up with something missing, I have gotten used to it even though I don't feel like I should be. I found a secondary source that gives free shipping so when I miss one or two I can just go to them, so that's nice and handy.
I should do some reading and writing today to be a little productive before I start another week of work, but I will be awake another 8 hours or so, so that should give me some time to do that.
Yesterday one of my dad's best friends passed away after his battle with cancer, he was in hospice for a week or more so I think dad had come to terms with it slowly but surely, but he has showed a couple cracks, a couple chinks in the armor if you will. Dad's a guy that doesn't really react too openly, so I have heard a catch in his voice and the last time I heard that was when we had to put my dog down. I also realized that in the last two years both of my parents have lost their best friends to illness. Kinda gives a sense of perspective to things that I hadn't quite had before, and a realization of fleetingness that I wish I didn't have to have. Guess it will just make me appreciate the friendships I have, and in turn, my parent's, that much more.
