After a month away, I'm back!
Over the past month I started an aquarium. Even after 2 months of research there were still surprises and moments of doubt.
I had to weed through the opinions of online self-claimed experts. The folks at the pets shops had varying opinons & advice. Then there were regular folks who had advice, but their only credentials were dead fish, and no idea about tracking ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels.
So far, so good. I've got 9 fish, and after several weeks there hasn't been a single death. There has been one success after another:
My water chemistry is great.
My eel finally took frozen shrimp yesterday. For the past 3 weeks it's eaten nothing but live worms.
The rainbowfish are no longer terrorizing each other.
The plants are growing new leaves.
Life is good!
