So I am considering a big move in location and career. Although, I like my current job it is not the most stable position around and I have no idea how long I will be employed and recently comments were made about a lack of work. So I did some research to see what jobs were out there and found a great position at Montana State University- Northern. Its a teaching position which at the college level is job number 2 on the dream job list. Plus I miss Montana in a big way.
Of course there is a catch, the money is right at the low end of my budget, and it would be a matter of scraping by. But then there are the intangibles, full benefits, retirement etc. The biggest perk though is a full ride for an advanced degree or two, which could lead to a significant pay increase for the same position. I don't mind being poor, been that way most of my life, but I am really bad at sticking to a budget.
Then there is a chance that things work out at my current job, and I get hired full time. The benefits are not as good but the money is better. The big difference is they only pay for one class at a time, and their grad classes aren't cheap.
Ultimately I think the better long term career choice is MSU, but I will miss my friends here.
At least for once I have a good decision to make with win/ sorta win choices.

papat:
where is that? ...bozeman? ...seems like you could find a rad little cabin out of town and save some bucks in the process ...montana is a beautiful place ...the change in scenery certainly could be worth the drop in pay
