The Oscars sucked this year. So dull. I wouldn't have even really watched them, mind you, but I was invited to a viewing party and hey, free food. Saw one of my exes and his new girly-friend there, though he didn't seem that into her. However, she seemed way into me after I complimented her shoes. All weirdly drunk, huggy and kissy. surreal

Other than that,...

Yeah it was boring until I saw Salma Hayek and her dress eeek eeek eeek

I thought all women liked to be complimented on not just their shoes, but in general. Especially if it's not a typical compliment.

The job is going well. I'm finally getting used to waking up with the rest of the working world. Commuting has been trying lately with the landslide related road closures. The crew at work is pretty cool. It's much more relaxed than my last job. So far, people have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly I'm picking things up. I asked the supervisor if he thought Bob's was too far for me to have lunch and he said no, it should be fine. Soon I'll be on the swing shift and will have to figure out my schedule again. I'm just happy to be working and I'm looking forward to my benefits kicking in.

My advice on getting good sleep is probably stuff you already know. Cut down on stimulants & sugar. Watch your alcohol intake. Exercise. Have an evening ritual where you go to sleep at the same time. Avoid watching TV before bed. Try reading, stretching, meditating. Melatonin is good because it helps you get deep sleep. I take it when I know I'm only going to get five or six hours. Aside from the vivid dreams, which I kinda like, it can make you groggy the next morning. I sorta like that, too.

Hungry...schleeepy...

And what kind of song shall I sing to you now, my little one, you who never learn?
You who give your heart and ask for nothing but a shoulder in return?

And then the pattern emerges; at your most vulnerable, you are left alone.
But don't you see it's easier this way, especailly when you know you never really loved yet
in the first...

I put in a good word for you on the SGUK group.... smile
kay:
I have links for jobs posted in the group if you are interested, or if you have any questions feel free to ask, on my journal or on the group, if you cannot find what you are looking for.

No worries about the participation, I have it private to protect Antarcticans from each other. Rules of engagement if you will. wink

How's about Thursday 3/3? I'm not as familiar with the area. Why don't you pick the place?

What a dreary weekend, but at least it was filled with lots of friends and meat-eating. Saturday I indulged in some serious retail therapy avec bijoux; then I was off for steaks and homemade French fries at a friend's house. Yesterday, I had ribs with mango sauce, a big ole hunk of tuna, lemongrass rice, and molten chocolate cake at another friend's house. I...

Oh, Don Felix, with your beaches, mountains and bridges, how I long to be there with you,
smoking your free cigarettes. I know how you love the idea of me, but it is not meant to be, for now.

Because now the world is a flytrap, and my heart is sinking like an anchor in the depths of a filthy sea.
I cut loose that...

Oh, darling. You are so precious and sweet. I'm sending you an All Day Sucker with magical powers. This lollipop sends lust and love into your body via sweet, slow, and long-lasting release. That's the only kind of "all day sucker" I'll accept that exists for you. You're a soft princess and a hard rawker and you deserve every morsel of happiness in the world, and then some.

(hands the girl the lollipop)

love

I seem to be at a loss for words lately. Perhaps this insomnia is dissolving my spirit.

The anticipation of withdrawal is precluding any happiness to be had in the meantime. Funny.

I am neither and I'm in Brum (Birmingham).. more through circumstance than choice, as most people here must be- surely.

Hhmm, your' impending Cold Turkey and dissolving spirit conundrum sounds harsh. You are bound to find somthing soon that will lift and rejuvinate you- life is like that I find.. it'd be nice to think that my much improved spelling and punctuation cheered you..if only slightly.

Sorry to hear your vacanos isn't the good variety. Have one on me

I'd love to meet for eats! It might have to wait a couple weeks until I get on the payroll cycle... blush

The Musee Mechanique in San Francisco is temporarily located at Fisherman's Wharf. Though now you can get to more of the machines, I still think I preferred the old locale better.

Never buy frozen fish.

And meet my new boyfriend.

My brother calls it Keno - that horrible feeling one experiences the morning after a Las Vegas bender, when one is sitting in an unforgivingly bright coffee shop, staring at the Keno screen. My friend calls it bad atmos - when a situation's configuration produces an inexplicably sad/ill feeling. I don't know what I call it - maybe depression. But whatever it is, I appear...

do you have a solution to Keno? your own way to beat it?

different things work for me but they all involved in getting involved in something that takes me out of myself. a film, book or ringing a cheery friend or watching kids tv
