probably shouldn't get too excited about this until i have it in hand, but the good folks at apple "made me an offer i couldn't refuse"

get this: after many days and nights in mac hospitals near and far, 3 logic boards, 3 trackpad assembly thingies, and 2 keyboards, my beloved problem child powerbook G4 is once again acting weird. and not playing nice, hogging the dvds and refusing to spit em out when asked nicely. not every time, but often enough.

like some people i know, it seems this particular laptop is just wound a little too tight to make it a reliable companion

so. apple said, "since we don't make the G4 anymore, we're offering you the macbook pro."


how could i say no to that sweet deal. so i'm waiting to hear back on whether they want all the cables and power bricks and things as well as the machine.

once it gets sent off, they will ship a brand spankin new mbp 17" with the new 2.33g intel core 2 duo processor. not sure exactly what that means except it's gonna be wicked fast. i'll have it do drag races in Logic against the G5

does it mean i'm a materialistic wretch if this bit of news makes me feel all
