Wow. Almost a month since last post?!
Before I forget:
BBQ and then movies at my place on July 23. Grilling at 5ish, movies later. So far folks seem to be leaning toward cheesy horror. which I love
June was full of World Cup. US sucked, Germany ran out of gas against Italy, and I'm rooting for the French side against Italy in the final. Zidane kicks major butt, but he'll have his hands full.
Now my long lost cousin (I think we're second cousins, or was it first cousins once removed--whichever) is visiting from Germany. She lives in the same town my grandpa came from on between the world wars, so she learned Russian in school, not English or French like the kids on the west side of the country. It's been fun to get to know her. She's a good sport about not knowing so much English, and she seems to mostly understand my mangled German. Her accent is hard for me though. Folks in the east part have a distinct way of speaking that my ear isn't used to. But, she has a fully functioning heart, and that makes it easier to understand what she is saying.
Wanderlust rises up in step with plain old lust. It feels time to take my pipe back to its home in the quarries of Pipestone and have our annual reunion. Maybe that will tide me over 'til Labor Day. The Badlands are calling.
The Porcupine Labor Day Powwow has always been a soul satisfying experience. My soul is in need of some satisfaction right about now.
