My father's funeral was very nice. Over 200 people showed up to pay their respects. It really reflected what kind of man he was. To add to the emotional craziness this week, my sister had a little boy 3 days after my father died. His name is Samuel Christopher Paul. She added Paul to the name in rememberance of our dad.

I was thinking of you again the other day... I recently found out my grandma has terminal ovarian cancer (which is "amusing" in that she hasn't had ovaries in 40 years but apparently that's irrelevant). The thing about having lost my brother before his time is that the whole family is genuinely peaceful and sanguine about this event. Grandma is ready and at peace, my mom just feels honored to be there to be part of the process. My grandpa was actually more depressed before he knew what was going on, hearing a diagnosis actually made him more at peace than he's been in a while. It's messy and at times painful just like birth, but it's nice to watch things unfold peacefully after living through watching it come suddenly and painfully. Another gift from my brother - his life may have been short but his effect has been felt that much more strongly.
It seems like you get the gift your father is giving you too, both in life and in passing. That comforts me to see.
As for the Host, I'd definitely recommend either finding someone with a projector if you watch it on DVD, or seeing it in the theater. You really gotta see the monster BIG.

I completely feel for you, I had much the same thoughts when my brother was slowly wasting away. He fought so hard, he accomplished so much in his short life, while mine was very much being frittered away for lack of my own courage and motivation. I can't really tell you how it came out, I don't think it's particularly relevant to this situation. But really, all that pain and being strong and living in limbo...it became a very beautiful thing in the end. I feel privileged to have been related to someone like him, to go through that with him. I would not have missed a minute of it for anything.

I hear ya about the poisons. I've all but quit drinking for that very reason. Overdid it while in a very bad mood, had a hangover for most of the next two days, decided I needed to just stop till I was in a better mood. I've actually been pretty good about it, even on vacation when the booze was free and plentiful! It helped that they were also passing around guava juice like mad.

so far, it's been really nice. i had school yesterday, and then i hung out with my best gal pal. and then today, me and bratzilla slept in until 11, and i did some repotting of my houseplants, which is really meditative for me.

Yeah, and there's only a few of them left up on VOD cuz they took a bunch down yesterday. I think they're for the most part alot better than last season.

The surgery went well. Now comes the soreness, swelling, discoloration and painfully funny walk for the next few days. I have a nice little scar running from my pubic bone almost to the hip. I"m on some heavy drugs now and think its time for a nap. Hopefully tonight will be better. Thank you for your kind words and naked pics.
