Yesterday was such a good day. Those of you who stop by regularly know that two of my children were busy at work with their respective passions yesterday.
The day started off with me tentatively looking outside to see if there was any rain to consider. It was the first blue sky I had seen in over a week. It was beautiful. This was the drive to school.
I dropped Daron off at school and everyone was very excited, with all the decorated bikes lined up. In Kindergarden, they don't go by lap ... they just let them ride for like 30 minutes and then they are all tuckered out. Daron raised $135.00 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It's a pretty awesome charity. They do cancer research that they share with the world and they have treated more pediatric cancer patients than any other facility of it's type. Anyway, the most heartwarming part of the story, I suppose, actually happened the night before. I had picked him up from school and we were discussing dinner options. Of course, he wanted El Pollo Loco but that is usually only for special occasions because what he likes to order there is too expensive. So ... he says, well I don't want to waste any money. What? One of my children is not immediately demanding to spend some of my money? So I think ... how cute, he's getting more mature. Then I come to find out, he thinks we are going to spend his fundraising money because we had discussed that immediately proceeding. Once I assured him that it would be my money, and not the pledge money, he returned to his normal self ... and was only too willing to waste MY money. Ah, the joys of motherhood! But isn't that cute? He didn't want to take it from the sick children, even for El Pollo Loco.
This is where I was when he was riding, or I would show you pictures. rndmronnie can probably attest to the brutality of the code monkey job and the idiotic deadlines. *sigh* I really need to clean my desk. I am so busy for the last couple weeks!
When I left there were a few clouds, but it was still an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday.
So then I went to see
Tobias at the Knitting Factory. It was the weirdest deja vu. Remember last weekend when I put the convicts up and said that it was just little punk rockers that grew up wrong? I had referenced Hotel Hell, where the little runaways squatted. It was at the corner of Sycamore and Hollywood Blvd. I said it was a strip mall now. Well, this club was in that strip mall.
I hung out with all the cool kids for a while.
And some more of them.
The coolest thing about the whole night was meeting nolefdetnaw who was in town for one night and dropped by to say hello. He is so cool! This is the only picture I could steal and we looked, um, dazed and confused. Ha! Really, this guy is hot!
So the band was really good, they have gotten really tight. Some members have been playing together for years and they have really put a lot of work into it. I couldn't take pictures of the band with my camera phone because it was too dark. Since I have become such a stalker, I should probably invest in a better phone with night vision or something.
nolefdetnaw had to be at work at 3 AM and he left. So this is when all the trouble began. You see, my son's friends invited me to go to Bob's Big Boy with them. I should have known better...
Anyway, Bob's Big Boy has been in Burbank since 1949. It is always cool to see a familiar face.
Then we sit down. Do you think she paid extra for those holes in her pants?
Do you want to know what the main difference between being 20 and 40 is?
Two more pictures and you can go...
Okay, the first guy sure was nice. He kept talking to me about the Velvet Underground and Andy Warhol and Nico and stuff. He was really into Nico!
Now the 2nd one is one of my son's best friends, so I went to sit down with him, and asked him if he would buy me a guitar. Since I don't know this kid, I suppose some folks would find this odd, but let me tell you a little story of another night at that same restaurant. It seems that they made a little bet with my son that he could not consume the rest of the crap on the table. Apparently, and I was *NOT* there for this one, they mixed all the leftover food together, along with various unrelated condiments and salad dressing and what have you. He had a certain time frame within which to perform, and I guess he had already finished a substantial meal. So ... the bet was for a guitar. Even I would take that bet and so did Steve. And he did what their sadistic minds had dreamed up. And then he puked all over the table, and even filled up a pitcher. Well, isn't that punk rock? :smirks: But Z made good with the bet and bought him a Gibson Double Cut Les Paul. I told him last night, you must have way too much money. His reply? "I used to..." Poor guy!
Anyway, I say this is when the trouble began because ... today I heard I was too much for the younguns to bear. Yeah, don't worry, Steve ... it is not my intention to try to hang out with your friends. *sigh* It really must be hard to have a mom like me sometimes, but I do mean well. And fuck you! Hehe! Rotten kids will be the death of me!
So now I am off to meet some sg folks at the pub. Everyone, enjoy your weekend!
Love to you,
~Suzy
