I have been trying to find time all week to post something. I had such a wonderful time while on vacation last weekend, hanging with my kid and his friends in a terrible little town called Tulare.
Then my little one turned 6 on Thursday. I promised him a freakin' hamster for his birthday and need to make good on that promise tonight.
However, the WORST thing is that on Saturday night I crashed my car on Laurel Canyon. The damage is not that bad, I didn't hit anyone but an embankment, and I wasn't hurt. The fact that I couldn't get towed or home until 3:15 AM probably isn't that big of a deal. The fact that there was no rental car company open yesterday was no big deal. But the fact that the rental car company wants a credit card with $250 of available credit to pick up the prefunded rental (because my insurance will pay $50 per day for 30 days) is a big deal because I bankrupted myself at Christmas time and there is no available credit on any plastic. I asked the credit card company for a raise of $200 ... they were like, ah, no. So now I am waiting for the VP of Operations to come out of a meeting so I can beg and plead for a loan.
Only two problems with that last idea: 1) On Friday, I was told that I really might get fired this week because ... I suck at showing up on time, and 2) the VP is getting fired this week (only he doesn't know, of course). In other words, if I don't work this out TODAY, I'm screwed again.
Oh, and I guess it would be nice to have a car to pick up my 6 year old up from school today. He's been with his dad all weekend, but at 6 PM my shift starts again.
Now if you were told you were getting fired because you SUCK, today would be a good day to try to work and not fuck around with personal stuff, right? Yeah, that's just not going to happen. I really do believe that I will make more money unemployed than I do employed, but that probably will not be true the first few weeks, so this is a tricky situation.
I have a feeling I'm going to be depending on the kindness and generosity of others for the next week, at least, and I'm not thrilled about that but I guess it will be good for my ego.
So that's all the news that fit to print!
Hope everyone else is having a better week than me so far!
