So, I could mention I've been feeling rundown and on the verge of getting sick all week. And that I threw my back out somehow and am in varying stages of stooping over. But it's the holidays, so I won't.
Instead, I'll start counting down the top ten most played songs by Ippy, my iPod. I keep it almost entirely in shuffle and the little dude has proven to be quite the psychic sometimes. Either that, or I just have too much free time.
2006 Top Ten
10. 'I Wanna Live' - The Ramones
I wanna live / I wanna live my life
I do want to live my life and in that case it means starting 2007 at square one both professionally and personally in many regards. A sentiment which leads into the next song:
9. 'I Wasn't Born to Follow' - Social Distortion
I realize that in your eyes you got ideas
But I got mine, get ready
Here comes the new generation
Hope they feel and fight the same way as we did
Yeah, what Mike said.
8. 'Somebody to Love' - Queen
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
This is one of my favorite Queen songs and one I always used to put on the jukebox...any jukebox that had it. Of course, I finally found 'somebody' in trixel and we're getting married, so, that's good.
7. 'Bird on a Wire' - Johnny Cash
If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.
A great Leonard Cohen song of the imperfect looking for some measure of redemption. Yeah, that's deep.
6. 'Pink Western Range' - Blue Bob
In a marked cadence he recalls / His rare collection of time
A band featuring David Lynch and John Neff. Lot's of industrial, dark, moody music with lyrics out of a Lynch movie. I know John and he's a nice guy. I should clearly give him a ring.
Top five coming up soon. (Which should excite...no one but me and my occasionally obsessive behavior.)
