So, my birthday was quite wonder...falls. Hahaha...this will make sense shortly.
--730A_Trixel_Fem was 'sick' from work, so we slept in, then it was off to pick up tickets for Saturday.
--On to the bus to head out to the Portage Place mall to pick up the present she wanted to get me...ahem...us: A swanky new digital camera.
Look at this pic...I look almost good. That's the sign of a good camera.
Then it was off too the Winnipeg Zoo. They have bears!
They have hot bears, who don't feel constrained by things like pre-determined cage size and sleep wherever they damn well please!
Then it was off to the Fort Garry, the swanky old school hotel...and a night in Room 202, which is supposedly haunted!
Outside the room, the spooky hallway:
But first a drink...or two...ish at the lounge / bar downstairs where the piano player was seriously kick ass or simply subversive. Over the course of the few hours we were there he tinkled the ivories by playing among others; multiple Metallica (Nothing Else Matters, One), NIN (Hurt), My Chemical Romance (Helena), Bush (Swallowed), Guns 'n Roses (November Rain), Aerosmith (Dream On), Zeppelin (All of My Love) and the list goes on. By request from us, he played Queen (Killer Queen) and Nirvana (Heart Shaped Box). We tipped him a bunch and enjoyed dinner.
And then it was up to the room, where we ordered room service, ate too much and watched 'Wonderfalls,' and awesome tv show that was of course cut short. Anyway, we finally went to sleep around 3am, a quite wonderful day. Then I took 3 pictures around the room in the quiet darkness. The first two...uneventful shots of the room. The last picture, some strange reflection and a couple of those refracted dust spots in the corner and around the curtain that people think could be ghosts...
I don't believe it myself, and beyond a strange perfume smell that always seemed to replenish itself in the room everytime we left and came back, it was uneventful for me. I did however manage to freak out Trixel inadvertantly in the middle of the night by touching her neck. She didn't sleep well and had nightmares. Of course we also ate a lot of cheese...that could explain the nightmares too.
