Doing some cleaning up and stumbled across some old notebooks from a very long time ago, back when I was very young and very dumb, so long ago that I can now see the humor in exposing some of these works to the light of day for the very first time.
In "publishing" this stuff , I am not seriously ridiculing the deeply confused woman-child I was at that time, but more like celebrating the wonderful silliness of those angst-ridden, hormone-addled years. God love em. I wouldn't be who I am now without having been who I was then. Actually, nothing much has changed...I'm still confused!
I believe the "love poems" are the most insightful and entertaining of all the ramblings these journals contain, so it is now my pleasure to introduce the inner workings of the mind and heart of Superkitty, circa the early 1990s. It's important to note that these little gems were written about various people - thankfully I wasn't that pathetically obsessed with any one person for too long...
I will post these periodically until I either run out of material or get too embarrassed to continue, whichever comes first. The first installment, here goes...
***
let's take a bus to the park
or the beach, or the city
let's get away
we need a holiday
it's so beautiful out
please
we could go anywhere
cause we're together
and we both have dreams
that bloom in the sun
and die in the cold
so let's not waste this time
and maybe we could go somewhere else
somewhere far away
from the pain
from life's dragging train
you understand me so well
i see my soul in your eyes, sometimes
take my hand
we'll turn the corner
and shed our past with our winter coats
***
your smile
that way you have
where you glance at me
and flash that grin
just for a second
i live for it
just for a second
i think we live on, but
oops, my fantasies were untied
and i just tripped over them
***
you enter me
like a needle donating life-affirming drugs
your rhythm burns into my body
if i could only cry out your name (and)
it would make us real
but the most sweet and satisfying torture
it's you
your trailing fragrant locks
tease my shoulders
and the sun shines
on our mismatched bodies
moving in unison
your sweet, hot finality
a shuddering dream tinged with aching wonder
***
Wow, this is cathartic, and probably ridiculously stupid...
