Ok there's absolutely no way I'm gonna go volunteer at that place. In fact I may have changed my mind about the ethics of euthanasia as a solution to overpopulation.
What I don't get is if it's so hard for EVERYONE to put an animal down cause they are deemed upadoptable, why is it even done? I mean, the clinicians are traumatized by it. The narrator on the video was sobbing through her narration about the experience of trying to help the animals be calm through the ordeal. So why the FUCK does it get done?
This is why Hitler was able to be successful. Most people just do what they are told regardless of their personal feelings towards an event. We've all heard the story about the experiment done on college students to see how far they'd go torturing another student if they were told to do so by a college professor.
What the HELL is WRONG with PEOPLE?!?
We were asked at the Humane Society to please not approach the clinicians and ask them to explain why a particular animal was euthanized. We were told that it was a very emotional ordeal and that question may cause the clinician to have to recount that experience, have to re-live it. We were also told that the clinician may find themselves second guessing their decisions.
Wow. Ok. THIS is a problem. Why the fuck shouldn't they have to re-live it? Why shouldn't they second guess their actions? If it's an "ordeal", then that means it's bad, and should be reconsidered. Jesus, what is wrong with these people?
I will help, just not this place.
