Uh, yay.. Another journal to update! But that's okay, I'll prattle away about photography on this particular journal and leave the mundane to my main site - Supercilious Sacrifice.
By the way, if anyone would like to see more examples of my photography, feel free to follow the link above and click on the 'Cast/Photography' link, scroll down to the picture portion of the page. Enjoy, or don't, whichever.
So, for the first entry, I'll just introduce myself a bit, I suppose. You can call me G. Because I'm all cryptic n' shit. Photographer in Las Vegas, currently running an A/V company for a friend of mine while I seek to achieve total world domination in the art photography realm. I've got my first 100% common area show coming up in November.
I've displayed over a dozen times all over the west coast but usually as part of a bigger show, never having my own, per say. Pen and Teller, thanks to my local framer, have the above rabbit picture hanging somewhere in their house. It's really my only claim to fame.
Photographically speaking, I'm a relatively die hard purist whos only recently delved into the realm of digital, and that isn't out of desire to enter the digital realm, but convenience and I already have the camera from my commercial photogaphy days.
I'm running two main kits, right now. My film kit consists of a Canon EOS-1n and my digital is a Kodak DCS 520 (I know, old news but fuck was it expensive back in the day), which also utilizes the Canon EOS body. I've got various assorted L-series lenses which I use, depending on the circumstance. My personal favorite is the 70-200 L-series Canon lense.
Add assorted flashes, turbo batteries, etc. and you've got my meager set up. I'm looking at buying a good Mamiya RZ kit by the end of the year, but just haven't managed to scrape up the money yet. Art photography doesn't pay for shit unless you're famous.
My current goals and aspirations are to have a few really decent sized shows and work on getting my first book published, from there I want to travel around, doing shows and publishing more books. I want to make it a life style. I'm currently banging my head against the wall in frustration dealing with 'art' people. My background is in corporate america, I understand and know how to control a room of suits. But art people? I've no fucking idea what the hell these people think about.
I just really cant seem to get an angle on them. Mostly because I cant grasp how they can consider one thing as good art and something else as bad art. It seems proportional to the artists ability to sell himself, and not his talent at the craft. But this is only something Im learning now. Well see how it goes. It may well be that the eclectic art freaks of the world are no different then the suits, just a different set of motives.
Ill figure it out.
Okay, Ive rambled enough. Cheers.

Hi, no I've never modelled before, apart from some self portrait shots I did on a photography course! I offered to model for Chad Michael Ward the other day, cos I'm a big fan of his work...but that's if I ever visit the US!

Hmm. I've run into similiar types of people in the literary world. There is no reasoning with them. Or maybe I haven't yet found a suitable angle.
