Really? I kind of liked it, if for no other reason just that it contextualized a lot of world history for me that I'd never really related to. Seeing history in the context of the creation of music just made it all click for me for some reason. And I'm a big nerd too... But it was fucking hard and all of the dates I had to memorize were just numbing...
Yeah...the testing was a bitch. I did well though cause I've got OCD down pat and was able to do massive study sessions to get it all straight in my head. Thank god those days are gone.
I changed my major in school to music rather late (beginning of my junior year), so I didn't have time to do the full on composition major that I should have done (would have taken another year - no thanks), so I just did a basic music major with an emphasis on guitar and comp. I also took over our schools recording studio and that's where most of my growth really happened.
So do you want to teach voice? Are you into more classical or 20th century stuff?
Is your focus composition or performance?
