What an exhausting weekend. A good weekend, but exhausting nonetheless. After I'd come home from the long night out, re-meeting Heather, I posted on here about impending happiness, then set to work on designing a lesson-plan for Rayna's GED studies. I figured I could get a plan done by 10-11, sleep until 6 or 7 pm, then head over to her place and work with her on it. Right around 10, as I was getting finished, Rayna called- she wanted to go shopping. Yes... "shopping," as in hit every store in the mall looking for some undefined but "perfect" piece of clothing. She wanted me along to act as surrogate husband, telling her if she looked good/bad in things, whatever. So, I went, and ended up being out so long that I ended up getting to bed 30+ hours after originally waking up.
I've picked up a bizarre talent (for a guy) in the last few years that I never knew I had; I could critique the clothing Rayna picked out, select specific items, judge whether certain colors worked with or against her skin-type, etc. Never knew I had it in me, especially since my own "fashion" consists of "Ah shore do like mah clothes to be dull." I also critiqued perfumes for her... go figure. I ended up finding a nice cologne for myself; let's see if I actually wear it, or let it turn to odorless alcohol in my bathroom.
Called Heather for an awkward fifteen-minute chat on Sunday, that turned into a 5-hour long conversation that, we concluded, officially covered every topic we would ever talk about in the future. Yes, the future. We seem to be clicking along nicely.
She's educated (master's degree in engineering), she's funny- and has a sense of humor much like mine, she's shy, she's over 21 (Hallelujah! Soon to be 26, actually! Hallelujah again!) She even seems to have a good set of personal morals, though it'll take some time to figure out how accurate that assessment is.
Asked her out for this coming weekend, though I confessed I have nothing planned yet. Time to break out the Nuvo, find interesting things to do, interesting places to eat... told her I'd work hard to falsely impress her in the early stages, so that later on I could slack, and our "dates" could consist of sitting around doing crossword puzzles without my feeling guilty. And... she thought that sounded great too...
I know it's way too early to put faith into this, that the best I should do is just worry about having fun, but it's hard to not have high hopes for the future...

And you know the exact thought that went through my head when I saw that balloon.
