Spring break this week; a small weight off my shoulders for a while. I have a little bit of work to do for my logic class, but that's it. A week for sleeping in, cleaning house, shopping, and all the other things I regularly put off.
Tony and I headed out dancing like usual. While out on the floor, Tony pointed out a girl he thought I'd like... looked over, and it was the girl who'd given me her number a few weekends ago, Heather, who had never called me back. Fuck. Felt awkward; she seemed to be avoiding me, so I decided to give her her distance and remain off in the corner.
The night went along kind of odd; a group of women crowded into the small area in front of me and began dancing, and one of them then turned to me and pointed to the corner... "you need to back off." Odd, since I'd not moved an inch, they were the ones who'd surrounded me. I stayed put and kept dancing, and a few minutes later, she came back up to me and said "you're the best dancer in here!" Change of heart, I guess.
Heather and her friends ended up migrating close by, due to the flow of people on and off the floor. Hemmed and hawed for a while, then decided I'd say "hi" and let her know there were no hard feelings.
Turned out (for whatever reason) she'd not gotten my voice mail, and she thought I'd never called her. We ended up spending the rest of the night with each other, going out for a late snack at a 24-hour diner afterwards... we got to talk quite a bit, and she's an impressive girl. Master's degree in engineering, shy and phone-phobic like me. We got along terrifyingly well. She told me later on that I'm only the second person she's ever given her number to- the last time was about 8 years ago- and that she'd been devastated that I'd (apparently) not called.
Plans to call her tomorrow and/or Sunday, for date-planning stuff.
Funny how things seem to align of their own accord.
