Someone scrawled "FUCK U" on my windshield while I was at work. Luckily, easy to scrape off. I think I know who it was, a co-worker... *le sigh* Guess I've trampled on someone's toes by being friends with a girl who won't date them.
I was finished with high-school antics 12 years ago, yet I can't seem to escape them.
Spending this Thanksgiving eating slices of apple pie (covered with cheddar cheese- something that everyone gets freaked out about, but that I recall being quite common in Indiana when I was a child). I'll be in bed in an hour or two, resting up for work/hell tonight.
Had a weird night at work last night, even without someone writing on my car. Travis, a long-lost friend I'd not seen in 10 years, happened by; we caught up for a little bit, until Annie stopped by. Then Annie and I caught up for a bit.
Then... a couple guys came in, asked if I was Robert... turned out to be Navy recruiters, specifically there to see me. They knew my GPA, major, etc., already, and they put the hard-sell on me. I hate to admit that their offer was incredibly tempting, even though I'm an anti-militaristic pacifist. It was very similar to an offer I had from the Marines last year: a yearly stipend that would cover tuition, bills, and a spending allowance to allow me to go to school full-time without having to work. When I got my BA/BS, I'd spend 4 years in the service as an officer, without having to rise through the ranks, no boot camp, without ROTC training, military classes, etc. After the 4 years, I could stay or go; I'd get the usual vet benefits either way, with a doctorate in mathematics (the eventual goal no matter what) being covered under the GI Bill.
Now. I'm not saying I'm gonna do it. But the offer is a tempting one. Unlike the one I got from the Marines, this is a bit more attractive by being the Navy. Quite a bit more technologically advanced, in (obvious) need of mathematicians, etc.
It'd be a definite sell-out, considering my stance on the military. But, I'm kind of a sell-out right now by working for the world's largest retailed. I'm not a young'un fresh out of high school, either, and it's taking far too long to get a degree by taking classes part-time. I'd like to get things over with, and it's not like I have obligations or a social life holding me here to Indiana, in the lonely little life I currently lead.
Something to think about this holiday weekend, I suppose.
One weird thing- every female that I've chatted to about it said the same thing. "You'd be in a uniform? That would be so hot." I don't get the uniform fetish, but hey. Whatever would work...

Happy Thanksgiving
You'd be in a uniform...that's sooo h....wait a minute? A MILITARY uniform? Fuck that. It's disgusting.
Please, for the love of all that is wonderful, do NOT do this. Please stick to your convictions. You feel a certain way...do NOT do it.
