Another entry not-for-LJ-eyes. I guess.
On vacation from work, so I won't be getting to see Stephanie all that much; perhaps a nice breather for her. Still feeling uncomfortable with things...
...she let me know that yet another guy is crushing on her at work. I wouldn't be so weirded out by it if it wasn't for our "relationship" being so tenuous. Our thing is barely above the level of a crush itself, so I have to wonder how things will go with guys assailing her from all sides.
Jealousy- that's part of the discomfort. Both in the "I wish guys would leave her alone" sense, and in the sense that I feel insignificant in comparison to the plaudits she receives. I occasionally have someone flirt with me, but this crap of stranger and coworkers falling head-over-heels every few days for her is disconcerting. I'd be on air if I had random women falling for me left and right.
I do know this- I need to quit drawing on my experience with Lindsey. They say that past relationships should be learning experiences, but all I've learned from her is to suspect and fear everything. "Uh-oh- guys flirting with her? Then she'll be tempted to leave me the second things go awry!" That kind of thing is unfair to her- it only represents Lindsey, not women at large. I know how Lindsey reacted when guys started doing this coming-out-of-the-woodwork-to-admit-a-crush crap... and I'm glad she's not in my life now.
Dorky stuff: been getting into my Sonic Youth stuff again, dug out Daydream Nation, and purchased their newest album, Sonic Nurse, Saturday. Good listening. Coming after Experimental Jet Set/Washing Machine/1000 Leaves/Ghosts & Flowers- all albums I was kinda "meh" about- I wasn't expecting much, but it's actually nice to listen to; probably on a par with Sister.
Also got their DVD, "Corporate Ghost"- I had maybe 1/2 of these on the two laserdiscs, but nice to have the other stuff. Really glad Superstar is on here; I love the original Carpenters version, and the SY version gave me chills, but I couldn't justify buying a whole album of covers for one tune. Now, I've got it, and can freely rip the audio when I wanna make a mix.
Also got OutFoxed on DVD, which was... eh. Preaching to the choir for me; already down on Fox News, so I dunno... I was hoping for some "fuck yeah!" type of entertainment value, like I get from listening to Al Franken, but the movie kind of dragged. Priceless, though, for the footage of O'Reilly going haywire on Glick.
