It's always seemed to be an eternal question for the ages....why girls always go for assholes? Not they would admit it!! No, ask any girl and the vast majority would swear that they want a nice guy that treats them right, and MAYBE at some level they've actually convinced themselves it's true, BUT history seems to bear out that it seldom if ever is.
Well thankfully science has finally solved this mystery, so at the very least we can understand what compels girls to be attracted to assholes. In both men and women the body produces a hormone called OxyContin, which is not to be confused with the drug oxycontin. Although spelled and pronounced the same way, one has nothing to do with the other. Scientist have coined OxyContin the "Love Hormone" for the effect it has over women.
In women the body produces the OxyContin hormone at levels 8 to 10 times greater than produced by the male body. Without delving too deep into the science, which you can easily read about with a simple Google search, the OxyContin hormone is a stress and pain releaver very useful to women at times such as child birth. However, the body doesn't distinguish between times such as child birth and other stressful situations, it just senses stress and reacts by flooding the female body with OxyContin. When this happens, females get a good feeling. Depending on how much OxyContin is released by the body, females get feel down right giddy under its influence!!
This is why girls are attracted to assholes that threat them badly and stress them out. In simple terms, the asshole in question stresses his woman on a pretty much continual basis, which keeps the flow of OxyContin rolling in an attempt to overcome the stress. Therefore, whenever the girl is with the guy, her body is soaring on a OxyContin high, which she associated with the guy and mistakes for love or attraction.
The term "Nice guys finish last, if they finish at all" is true, because nice guys don't trigger the OxyContin response in women; therefore, women are not attracted to them. So there it is ladies, you are literally a victim of your own internal chemistry and although you know it is logical and in your best interest to have a nice guy in your life, your hormones end up ruling your emotions.
No matter how much you may attempt to rationalize it or justify it, given the opportunity to choose, you will consistently throughout your life be attracted to the guys who treat you the worst while relegating the guy who treat you the best to the bone yard of "friends" status.
