Hmmm...well it looks like I have a bad habit of posting about once every 6 months.
This past year has been quite the learning experience. Work at the Treaty Office has been a slow and steady learning experience, in terms of dealing with difficult people, political and family politics, inter-governmental politics and inter office relationships. Who says Anthropology is a useless degree. Thank goodness for my ability to look at situations in terms of context and not single incidents, and my in depth understanding of human interaction. As of October 27th I will have been at this job for year. Here's hoping for another year!
This year has also been a learning experience in terms of relationships. Living in a large house with a boyfriend, after years of living in a smallish shared apartment with 2 other girls. As of August 1st Reprisal and I have lived here for 1 year. I'm not much of a house keeping and it's been a bit of a challenge to take care of such a large house. Than goodness I have such an understanding and helpful boyfriend. *kiss*
This spring and summer have passed by very quickly, especially with Reprisal;s new job. At the same time I was responsible for organizing some large community events. 4 in a row, in 4 difference cities in February, a Special Meeting for a vote in March, and and a 5 meetings in 5 cities 3 in a row then 2 in a row on top of the regular day to day tasks. The more exciting part has been involved in the process of developing legislation that will replace the Indian Act for the 5 nations involved in the Treaty.
We were able to sneak away for 4 blissful days to Saratoga Beach in Black Creek, BC last weekend. The resort was a little sketchy, but the location was AMAZING.
I'm looking forward to this year being less stressful than the last.
