the tree is split into three "branches" or pillars. One down the middle, represeting the pure and balanced energy of divinity, and one on each the left and the right. the left and the right represent all the opposite tendencies of things (intellect/emotion and so on)

yesod is #9, and where all three pillars merge; thus it is a place of resolution and combination. it is related to the moon, and to the astral dreamscape. The spiritual state identified in Chassidut as corresponding to the sefirah of yesod is that of emet (truth), in the sense of the power to "verify" one's convictions and emotions in action and to achieve true self-fulfillment in life.
