Would you like an extra helping of guilt with that?
I have to go to a wedding this weekend. If you live in New Orleans, this is the worst possible weekend to fly anywhere, because it is the weekend before Mardi Gras, so flights are expensive and rarely direct.
Long story short, I have to fly into an airport that is a couple hours away from the wedding, rent a car, and drive there. I am fine with this. I do not mind driving. I was pleased with my solution to all this until I got a hysterical phone call from my grandmother.
"You're going to miss the REHEARSAL DINNER!!!"
And from there, it was a short trip to "You know I'm going to die soon, this might be the last time I ever see you, etc." In which case, I don't see how two hours would make a substantial difference.
The person who is actually getting married is okay that I will miss the rehearsal dinner. Everyone else, for that matter, is okay with me missing the rehearsal dinner. And now I am avoiding a ninety-year-old woman's phone calls.
In other news, the dryer is still broken, and the household has resorted to clotheslines.
