I would really like to go travelling around the world and meet interesting people, there are so many people out there on sites like this and other art and music sites I regularly visit, so many creative, alternative, interesting people. I really do get a bit bummed out by how many people I meet and interact with here in Melbourne who are just plain boring, with no interest in anything creative, and incapable of even entertaining ideas other than the ones they are fed by the mainstream media, or their work colleagues, family upbringing or social circle. All over the world there are many more interesting people, which is one thing the internet has been great for, knowing that not everyone is completely conservative and/or brainwashed. Now I just have to find a way to travel a bit more so I can meet and hang out with some of you more interesting people smile

It seems most of my old friends are now married and having children and just don't (or can't) go out much any more, and many of them are becoming more and more conservative as well. Personally I think I am becoming the opposite as I get older, which I think is a good thing! Anyone else relate?

I'd love to go to Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Download, Wacken, Graspop and all the other European summer festivals, but sadly this year finances prevent it.... frown

Travelling is a great way to meet more people in a similar headspace (although the internet does that pretty well...) but it's also a fantastic way to assess where you fit into the broader scheme of the world. Keep on saving, it's well worth it smile

Yeah, half my friends are also settling down and popping out babies at the moment. That route isn't attractive to everyone at the same time, though I'm gradually beginning to see the appeal, without having to feel like it's making me more conservative.

Hey, I understand the reservations about having kids- I used to hate the idea with a passion, and I'm still in the phase where I want to get as much stuff done as I can regarding my career and travel (both combined if possible!) before I *settle down* in one spot for too long... though it's starting to get to the point where my body may gang up on me soon. The fact that the idea of kids isn't as abhorrent as it once was makes me think that it's probably to do with hormones, rather than a change in conscious priorities that way...

Depending on what you want to do with your music it might still be possible to have both, you just need an understanding and flexible partner smile
